RRPP
operation attains 4M manhours without accident
The
Rapu-Rapu Polymetallic Project (RRPP) in Rapu-Rapu, Albay celebrated on
August 26 a milestone when it attained four million manhours without
lost time accident.
For
RRPP, it is a safety record. It covers the period June 2009 to August
2010 instead of April 2009 due to a recorded accident last May 2009.
There
is an accident when an injury occurred at the workplace during work
hours and prevents the injured employee from reporting back to work
within 24 hours. The accident invalidates the continuity of the manhour
count. This is in accordance with the RRPP’s adherence to mine safety
and health standards outlined in Republic Act 7942 otherwise known as
the Mining Law of 1995.
The
project, with over 1,250 personnel, generates approximately 9,600
manhours daily exclusive of overtime work.
