Rapu-Rapu mine, stakeholders
gather 3,700 kilos of garbage
Some 3,700 kilos of
trash/garbage were gathered in two separate clean-ups spearheaded by the
Rapu-Rapu Polymetallic Project (RRPP) in Rapu-Rapu, Albay.
The shoreline and project
wharf underwater clean-up conducted on September 18 in Barangay Malobago
netted some 3,000 kilos of garbage. It was done mostly by Officers,
employees and scholars of RRPP and scuba divers along the shoreline and
sea floor, respectively.
On the other hand, 700 kilos
of garbage were gathered in a clean-up conducted earlier in the
shoreline of the Rapu-Rapu Poblacion with the Rapu-Rapu municipal police
station and some residents assisting RRPP.
The two separate clean-ups
were held in celebration of the International Coastal Clean-up Day 2010.
