Lafayette in partnership with Green group

With its commitment to the Green Philippines Project of the DENR, Lafayette Philippines Inc. (LPI) forged partnership recently with the green group Rapu-Rapu Speechers Youth Movement.

LPI pledged its support to the movement’s initiative for environmental concerns as it graced the partnership activity with a turn-over ceremony of seedlings.

LPI has produced 22,181 seedlings in 2007 and extends support to reforestation projects in Camarines Sur, Albay, and Sorsogon aside from its commitment to rehabilitate and implement reforestation in areas inside its mine development project at Barangay Pagcolbon in Rapu-Rapu.

The movement started as a peer group of 12 and now numbering 50 advocating for watershed protection and mitigation of global warming.

The movement is unperturbed and stands neutral on the alleged fishkill that happened in Poblacion, Rapu-Rapu, Albay last year and just wanted to plant trees and do concrete actions for environmental protection in the Island Municipality of Rapu-Rapu. (PIA-V)
