DARAGA, ALBAY- Bicol Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB-V) Chief
Reynulfo A. Juan recently issued MGB-V Special Order No.
2005-21, Series of 2005 creating a task force to fast track the
processing of some 180 pending mining applications at the MGB-V
regional office here.
The order, among others,
tasked the members of the task force to review the requirements
on pending applications as to their conformity with existing
guidelines and monitor applicant submission of compliance to
mandatory and directory requirements.
The task force was
composed of 3 groups, namely: the evaluators, the evaluation
committee and the secretariat.
The evaluators, composed
of about 11 members of mostly mining and geodetic engineers, was
headed by the Mine |

Management Division (MMD) Chief Ricardo P. Nacional, the chief
evaluator while the evaluation committee was composed of
director Juan, Mining Environment and Safety Division (MESD)
Chief Sulpicio B. Bernardo III and the task force chief
evaluator.
According to the order,
the chief evaluator is responsible in assigning a pending
application to every member-evaluator on a weekly basis for
review and study and submit the reviewed applications to the
evaluation committee for further discussions and determinations
as to what further actions should be done.
The order also provides that the existence of the task force is
co-terminus with the 180 pending applications till after the
latter are all finally acted upon. (LDValdez)
