BSCA holds Bikolwide confab anew

ONE BODY, ONE SPIRIT. Well designed Cam. Sur Capitol Convention Center is jampack by Bicolano customs students in the 3 rd Regional Aduana Convention last Feb. 28, 2005.
More than 200 customs students in the Bicol region converged at the Provincial Capitol Convention Center, Cadlan, Pili, Cam. Sur for the 3 rd Regional Aduana Convention held last Feb. 28.
Said participants came from Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges (MPC-Naga)- 115, Mariners’ Polytechnic Colleges Foundation (MPCF-Baras)-1, Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Foundation ( MPCF-Legaspi City)-62 and University of the Northeastern Philippines ( UNEP-Iriga City)-24.
Prof. Leah S. Antineo, Dean of Customs Administration of the Central Luzon College of Science and Technology and Mr. Joseph J. Tabirara, National Secretary of the Professional Customs Brokers of the Philippines Inc. (PCBAPI) graced the convention as the keynote speakers who discussed the Effects and application of the ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) and Republic Act 9280 respectively.
Present also during the activity were Dr. Dennis R. Rebueno, Education Supervisor II, CHEDROV; Dr. Marilissa J. Ampuan, Executive Vice President of MPC-Naga, Ms. Marian Her. Lazaro, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Mr. Elizer D. Alipante, Director of Students Personnel Services; Mrs. Eden D. Arenas, Dean of Academics and Mr. Chris Paller who spoke in behalf of Collector Rene Benavides of the Customs Port of Legaspi.
This one day affair focused on the AHTN’s appropriate procedures in classification which enables the student delegates to acquire the necessary techniques involving the same which is of importance in the practice of Customs profession.
According to Mrs. Maria Hazel O. Palacio, Project Director of the convention, the activity inspired by the positive feedbacks and worthy recommendations given by both the participants and resource speakers during the 2 nd Regional Convention, was backed up by three reasons: necessity, relevance and concern.
The fashion show of selected students from BSCA 3B1 class, showcasing the different products exported by different countries worldwide was one of the highlights of the said affair.
